Taking over a Victorian property by the sea, Ang wanted to creating a calming space that retained the soul of the original property, and her bathroom was a key focus. Together with Clay & Rock, we helped Ang create her dream space.
Be inspiredA period property can pose many challenges, especially if you want to retain the character and modernise it. "The space was really showing its age — the taps leaked, the shower was far too small, and the layout just didn’t work for us." Ang told us "As someone who loves a long soak in the bath, I found it hard to relax in a room that felt so tired. So - we decided to redo it and create something that felt calm, elegant, and elevated — a space designed for pause and rest."
After finding the perfect balance between the new and old, the functional and welcoming, the build itself threw up some unexpected challenges "What should have been a fairly straightforward job ended up taking ten weeks — ten whole weeks without a proper bathroom."
Even though this stretch was testing, the end result was worth the wait "
It felt never-ending at the time, but now that it’s finished and we’re using the space every day, I can honestly say it was worth every minute of the wait."
A calm space
Thankfully the end result of all that waiting, and hard labour, was well worth it. And it's the smaller details that really stand out to Ang "If I had to choose one favourite part, I’d say the brassware. It’s just beautiful. Solid, weighty pieces that feel luxurious every time you use them. There’s something about using lovely, well-made fittings that instantly elevates the whole experience — it feels like a little hotel moment at home."
