Dawn's second bathroom project with Roper Rhodes was to tackle her downstairs wc. As a complete newly built room, the project tested Dawn to design from a blank slate.
For the downstairs WC, Dawn wanted to create something a little different — a space with personality and charm. Having never used wallpaper in any of her previous homes, she saw this as the perfect opportunity to experiment with pattern and make a real design statement.
Roper Rhodes Keswick brass fixtures and fittings were a must for Dawn, chosen for their timeless, Georgian-inspired elegance. A striking antique brass mirror, lovingly restored after being found at a fair, adds the perfect finishing touch. Paired with wall lights, it creates a soft, inviting glow that enhances the space’s classic yet contemporary feel.
The design blends period charm with thoughtful detailing. Half-height tongue and groove panelling, painted in Joanna by Little Greene, grounds the space in warmth and texture while complementing the patterned wallpaper above. The choice of panelling also ties in beautifully with the home’s existing style — a detail carried through from the kitchen and soon to feature in the existing main bathroom.
Adding character and history, the oak shelves were upcycled from the original floorboards discovered beneath old carpet — sanded back and restored to showcase their natural beauty.
