A Designers Guide to Styling Black Showers & Taps
Seven steps to a luxurious shower room design.
In a stunning showcase of our newest black taps and showers, our Senior Creative Producer Zoe shares expert tips on how to recreate this opulent wet room design.
Start with one thing you love
The bold yet timeless appeal of black brassware is at the heart of this shower design. The matt finish and pared-back design of the matt black shower naturally invited the use of more opulent surfaces and materials, so we built the scheme around this hero piece.VIEW BLACK SHOWERS
Rethink your space
You will rarely hear the term ‘open-plan bathroom’, but that is effectively what a wet room is. The very nature of a wet room or shower room layout maximises floor space by eliminating the need for shower trays and specific wet areas, giving you lots of freedom from a design perspective. Small bathrooms in particular will benefit from a walk-in shower layout that opens up floor space- just make sure your space is watertight!
Add a touch of hotel luxury
We wanted to introduce a hotel luxe feel to the shower room by creating a bespoke tiled countertop and backsplash for the vessel basin and wall-mounted taps. Creating a wash space like this is a wonderful way to maximise surface space and showcase often overlooked design elements such as brassware and bottle traps.

Colour is key
You can easily unify the look of your bathroom by using a single colour palette that gives the bathroom space cohesion and harmony. Beautifully offsetting the matt black shower and black taps and lending a biophilic element to the design, green was a natural choice.
Mix colour and pattern
I opted for olive green, vertical zellige tiles for the wash space and combined these with large jewel-like onyx jade wall tiles. Marble surfaces are really effective at creating a feeling of opulence while contrasting textured and polished materials help to section areas of the wetroom.
Don’t forget texture
I played around with different textures, from the sleek, smooth finish of the high gloss onyx marble tiles, to the artisan texture of the olive metro tiles, which juxtaposes with the reeded glass.
Play with scale
We opted for large format onyx jade tiles – the perfect backdrop to enhance the black brassware range. Large-format tiles provide a greater sense of spaciousness and visual continuity. On a practical note, it's quicker to install and is more hygienic – perfect for shower/wet room zones.
